Our State's Economy Near the Top

A new study by personal-finance website WalletHub ranked the economies of each U.S. state and the District of Columbia. The final list found North Carolina rounding out the top 10. Our great state ranked No. 10, just ahead of Arizona (No. 11) and just behind New Hampshire (No. 9).

To determine the rankings, WalletHub compared each state and D.C. against 28 economic performance and strength indicators. Some of those indicators range from growth in gross domestic product to startup activity and share of jobs in high-tech industries.

In the three categories that accompanied each state’s rank, North Carolina placed at No. 15 for economic activity, at No. 11 for economic health and at No. 12 for innovation potential. As the largest city in the state, Charlotte surely possesses high potential in all of these categories. This makes it an ideal place to live!

3. Massachusetts

And, in the No. 1 spot in particular thanks to being home to tech giants Microsoft Corp. and Amazon.com Inc: Washington.
