Local 'Burb Named Among 'Coolest' in America

One of Charlotte’s most vivacious little pockets has recently been named one of the “Coolest Suburbs in America.”

The list, put out by lifestyle website Apartment Therapy, highlights 24 suburban areas all across the country.

“Belmont boasts an enticing mix of culture, outdoor recreation, and friendly neighbors,” says Apartment Therapy. They cited the town’s proximity to the Catawba River, Lake Wylie and Crowders Mountain State Park as well as its charming downtown and varied mix of dining and shopping options as reasons for the ranking.

Belmont routinely makes it onto lists of the area’s fastest growing towns. Reasons for this are proximity to the city, lower taxes due to being in Gaston County, and an affordable cost of living. As reported by Apartment Therapy, median household income sits at $62,201 annually, the median rent at $1,061 per month and the median home price at $302,400.
