Area Spotlight: Mooresville

Straight up, no chaser. If you’re looking for simply the coolest Charlotte ‘burb, that place is Mooresville. Nicknamed “Race City, USA,” Mooresville is home to more than 60 NASCAR teams and loads of racing-related businesses, along with a youthful, growing population.

In fact, so much of what makes Mooresville what it is has to do with NASCAR. The town boasts two museums, The Memory Lane Motorsports and Historical Automotive Museum and the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Much of the town’s identity is wrapped up in this iconic sport that has almost become synonymous with North Carolina. To skip over it would do Mooresville a disservice.

It’s not all pit-stops and tire changes, though. Mooresville’s branding has made it so that each business, restaurant, and little shop in town is a destination. With mural walls and selfie stops everywhere, Mooresville has created an image of vibrance and exciting energy. Whether you’re feeding a giraffe at Lazy 5 Ranch, cliff jumping at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms, or earning your fairy wings in front of a selfie wall, Mooresville has the perfect weekend outing for you.

The Great Outdoors-ville

Watersports on Lake Norman are always a huge draw for Mooresville. Rent a pontoon boat, go stand-up paddleboarding, or spend the afternoon with a few friends and some kayaks. On dry land, walk the paved trails at Liberty Park, pack a picnic at Bellingham Park, or enjoy the summer splash pad at Hope Park. There’s tons of natural beauty in Mooresville.

Locals love to wine and dine at places like The Blue Parrot Grill, though it’s only open in the Summer, and for good reason… it’s tiki bar themed with giant patio chairs and frozen drinks!). In cooler months, visit Barcelona Burger & Beer Garden, Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse, or Prickly Pear.

With fantastic schools and homes off all types, real estate in Mooresville can move pretty quickly. Mooresville has it all… big city life, small town charm, country living, and Lake Norman sun. It’s okay if you weren’t born here… you got here as fast as you could.
