The Charlotte-Metro area is home to some of the best schools in the state. When choosing which neighborhood to start home searching, many families don’t look first at square footage or pricing, they look at schools. Here’s the lowdown on some of the top-tier schools in the selling areas in which we specialize. Enjoy!

Elementary

JV Washam Elementary, Cornelius. This 8/10 elementary school serves almost 1,000 elementary school students. The reading, science, and math percentages consistently rank around 25% higher than state averages. For example, the state average for math proficiency in elementary students is 55%. JV Walsham’s average is 81%.

Children’s Community School, Davidson. This public charter serves almost 1,400 students from grades K through 12. While its overall rank is 8,10, CCS ranks 10/10 for both college readiness and test scores. This high ranking college readiness measure is due in large part to their average SAT score of 1622, higher than the state average of 1483.

Middle

Bailey Middle School, Cornelius. Ranked a 9/10, this public middle school serves grade 6 through 8. Academics pull in a 10/10 on test scores and ranks far above the state average. Students at Bailey Middle perform at or above grade level.

Mt. Mourne School, Mooresville. This middle school is an International Baccalaureate World School, meaning it has received special distinction on an international level. Their test scores are almost off the charts. Their end-of-grade testing percentage proficiencies are 93% in math (state average is 55%), >95% in reading (state average is 58%), and >95% in science (state average is 73%).

High

William Amos Hough High School, Cornelius. This stellar high school grabs a full 10/10 when it comes to college readiness in their students. Students here perform above average on state tests, have above average college readiness measures, and are making above average year-over-year improvement.

Collaborative College of Technology, Statesville. This public high school serves less than only 300 students and does it really, really well. They rank 10/10 for public high schools and is ranks the 62nd best high school in the entire state. They rank 10/10 in the following categories: test scores, student progress, equity, and serving low-income students.
