North Carolina is home to several stunning, fast-growing cities booming with industry and commerce. Big cities like Wilmington, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem are home to some of North Carolina’s wealthiest areas. But it’s the Queen City that takes the crown for the priciest zip code in the state.

True Charlotteans won’t be shocked to learn that the 28207 zip code ranks top in wealth. This neighborhood, spanning Myers Park and Eastover, lists the most expensive homes in the state in one condensed area. The analysis, released by realtor.com, made the determination based off of 2018 median listing prices.

In order to eliminate areas skewed by single outliers, realtor.com only included zip codes with more than 30 listings per month. They found that the 28207 median listing price was $1.3 million.

American City Business Journal’s Wealth Index also did a report on this zip code. It included factors like median household income, share of households with annual incomes of at least $200,000 and median home home value. In 2018, the 28207 zip code had a median household income of $130,868. Thirty-six percent of households earned $200,000 or more. It also boasts a median home value of $816,000.

These housing prices are driven up and up due to a competitive market. Well-paid professionals are moving to the Charlotte metro in droves and snapping up homes in these highly desirable areas.

Right behind 28207 is the Davidson zip code of 28036. Median home value in this area near Lake Norman sits at over $375,000.
