It’s no secret that over the last two years, home prices have surged beyond anything ever predicted. The Covid-19 pandemic has people staying home now more than ever, and thus re-evaluating their situations. Additionally, with the ability to work from home becoming more permanent, buyers realize they can work from anywhere.
Because of this trend, certain cities in particular have seen exponential growth since the beginning of 2020. Recently, home listing giant Zillow published their annual trend forecast. Will prices drop? Which cities are still growing? Shrinking?

According to Zillow, home prices across the US are expected to continue to rise throughout the year. An average of 14% will be seen nationwide, with more in-demand cities fetching a larger number. In releasing their list of Top 10 cities with the hottest housing markets, Tampa, FL nabbed the number one spot. Zillow predicts their rise in home prices could hit 25% just this year.
The cities ranked see low inventory, bidding wars, closing prices above the national average, and homes that sometimes only stay on the market for a few hours. All of this points to extreme desire to live in these great places. Florida and North Carolina dominated the top 5. As aforementioned, Tampa came in at #1 followed by another Sunshine State city: Jacksonville.
Raleigh, NC claimed the third spot. Fourth is San Antonio, Texas. Finally, rounding out the top 5 is our very own Queen City of Charlotte, NC.
