North Carolina has done it again. Every year, the U.S. News & World Report puts out their list of the best places to live in the United States. Time and time again, cities in North Carolina make the list. The 2023-2024 list is no exception. In fact, two major NC cities made the Top Ten.

Is One of Them Charlotte?

In order to make the list, U.S. News & World Report looks at a variety of factors. They took the 150 largest American metros and analyzed cost of living, overall happiness of residents, job markets, and quality of life. In order to top the list you must have high marks in all categories.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the top spot was claimed by Green Bay, Wisconsin by bringing in a 8.0 out of 10 in value and 7.3 in quality of life. Our fellow North Carolina neighbor to the east, Raleigh-Durham, nabbed the No. 3 spot by secring a 6.9 rating overall.

Our very own Charlotte stayed in the Top 10 by ranking No. 8.  Due to this valuation, this means Charlotte is the No. 2 spot in which to live in all of North Carolina. They achieved these spots by scoring highly in all categories:

  • Desiribility: 7.4
  • Value: 7
  • Job Market: 6
  • Quality of Life: 6.4

They also claimed the No. 62 best place to retire in all of the United States.

The U.S. News & World Report puts out this ranking every year, and who are we to argue?!
