Selling a home is almost as overwhelming and confusing as buying a home, and for some it may be even MORE confusing. Lucky for you, that’s why we have real estate professionals. Your hardworking agent is there to help you navigate the murky waters of the real estate market. Finding a qualified and compatible agent is hard work. Here are some questions you should be asking realtors before selling your home to find the one that fits best with you!

Credentials

While you’re shopping around for an agent, ask them what their credentials are. When selling a home, you want an agent qualified to sell in the state in which you reside and is part of the local real estate trade association. This will give them access to the multiple listing service (MLS) which is where you want your home listed.

Stats

Asking a potential agent what their sales volume and how many homes they sold last year is a great way to gauge whether they are up to the task. Ask how many clients they had last year, price range of homes they sold, and for recommendations from past buyers and sellers.

Specializations

It’s totally okay to ask an agent if they specialize in the neighborhood in which you’re selling. If they have their finger on the pulse of the area, not only will they be comfortable working in your price range, they’ll understand comps, know the real estate features and amenities that will attract buyers, and perhaps have an idea of how quickly it might sell. Chances are they might even have buyers lined up already.

Plan

Before partnering, ask an agent what their sales plan is. Any agent worth their salt will have a sales plan (oftentimes in writing) that outlines their plan for marketing the home, attracting buyers, and what services they’ll offer and when- things like open houses and showings.

Selling a home is a huge undertaking. Partner with the best so that your experience is seamless!
