When you’re shopping for a home, it’s good to be mindful of the old saying: “Location. Location. Location.” Okay, so it’s not much of a saying… but it is good advice. It’s important to look not only at the street you’re on, but the surrounding neighborhood and everything it includes. Recently, Money.com produced its annual list of “The Best Places to Live in America.” Eight North Carolina locales made the top 100, and one Charlotte neighborhood even managed to crack into the top 10.

But Which One?

The Country Club Heights neighborhood- just east of Plaza Midwood- was named the No. 5 best place to live in the entire country. To make their determinations, Money.com looked at several key factors. They took into account each city’s economic health, cost of living, diversity, public education, income, crime, ease of living and amenities, among other data points.

The analysis included only places with populations of more than 50,000 people. Cities with 300,000 or more people were broken down into neighborhoods; Charlotte fell into this category. After ruling out locations with more than double the national crime rate or with a lack of ethnic diversity, Money.com was left with just under 1,800 places to rank.

Concord was the only other local in the Charlotte-metro to make the list. What came out on top? Clarksville, Tennessee. To see how other cities in North Carolina fared, visit Charlotte Business Journal.
