If you are looking for ways to say thank you to those in our community who have served in the military, then plan on attending these area Veteran’s Day ceremonies. 

Veterans Day Celebration 

Today, Nov. 11, at 11am, the town of Cornelius will host its own ceremony. The Town of Cornelius, together with American Legion Post 86, will honor military veterans and those currently serving at the Cornelius Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza. This year’s keynote speaker Stewart Barbee, who served as a photographer with the US Army during the Vietnam War. Musical Performances: W.A. Hough High School Concert Choir, and Kasi Everhart.

Veterans Day Parade

Extending the holiday’s festivities into the weekend is the annual Veteran’s Day Parade in Huntersville. Taking place on Saturday Nov. 12 at 10am, this free event is sure to wow the entire family. Awards will be given out to various groups who go above & beyond in expressing their patriotism, with some of the categories including the best music performance, best themed float and best ROTC marching group.

The parade route will begin at Veterans Park in Huntersville, follow Old Statesville Road, and end back at Veterans Park with a closing ceremony. American Legion Post 321 will host lunch afterwards for all veterans.
