There’s possibly nothing more iconically Summer than 4th of July celebrations on a lake. Can’t you just picture it? A day filled with shoreside barbecues, sunscreen and popsicles, water floats and boat rides. Music is blaring as the sun sets and fireworks not only dot the sky but their colors are reflected in the water below creating a visual masterpiece. If you’re wondering where to spend your July 4th holiday, the only answer is Lake Norman.
Here are a few local celebrations to enjoy!
LNYC

Enjoy an entire weekend of celebrations at the Lake Norman Yacht Club! Starting July 1st, the club will be hosting a huge celebration with food trucks, live music, and fireworks at dusk. Then on July 2nd and 3rd, enjoy witnessing the Lake Norman Yacht Club regatta. Regardless of whether or not you register as a participating team, it’s impressive to witness.
Mooresville
On July 3rd starting at 6pm, the Mooresville YMCA hosts a free community event called Field of Flags. The event will bring an evening of fun, food, and music with an enormous fireworks show that has drawn big crowds every year. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to get a good view of the show. The Town of Mooresville will sponsor their Music on Main event featuring music by Tim Elliot.
Davidson
If fireworks aren’t your thing, you may enjoy the 4th of July parade in Davidson. The parade takes place on Sunday, July 3rd along South Street starting at 6pm.
Oh- and don’t forget! July 4th is always “Free Fishing Day” in any public body of water! No license needed. Just check with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission regarding rules on size limitations and lure restrictions.
