Blog > 'Ricky Bobby' Mansion Sells

As November draws to a close, let’s have a little fun and explore Lake Norman’s most expensive home sale… and this one’s famous!
This past month, the iconic Lake Norman mansion that played home to Will Ferrell’s character Ricky Bobby in the 2006 comedy ‘Talladega Nights’ sold for a whopping $6.75 million. Located in Cornelius, the home was purchased by an actual NASCAR couple, Kevin and Delana Harvick.
Perhaps one of the most famous scenes from the movie occurs when titular character Ricky Bobby leads grace around the family dinner table. Ferrell’s character is framed in the background by a floor-to-ceiling stacked stone fireplace. When it came time for the home to be renovated, the former owner Dan Moore said the fireplace was the feature that remained untouched.
Buyers Kevin and Delana Harvick are true NASCAR royalty. Now retired, Harvick (47) enjoyed a wildly successful 23-year career at NASCAR’s highest level, winning 60 Cup Series races and the 2014 title. He will fill a new role in 2024 as a commentator for the sport.
The house itself boasts 6 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, and was originally listed in March of 2023 for nearly 10 million dollars. Clocking in at 12,000 square feet, the home has three floors *and* an elevator. “Talladega Nights” is one of the more well-known movies filmed in the Charlotte area, with numerous scenes being shot around Lake Norman and at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord.
